MAY 2010

(I did not keep up with the activities of the month for everyone, so this will be short.)
Bob was still gone to Louisiana at the beginning of May, and returned on Wednesday, May 5th. I picked him up at the airport, and he was home a few hours, then went to Los Angeles for a meeting with a client, then came home the next afternoon.
We were able to have Ian over a few times. Usually, he plays games on the computer, or plays games with Bob on the "Wii."
Bob and I started on our "summer" walks while the weather is nice. It was warm only two or three days at a time, then would turn cold, so we weren't able to do it everyday like we wanted to. Maybe in June, it'll be better and more consistently warmer...at least I hope so.
On May 25th, it SNOWED!!!! Great spring weather, huh?
Bob and I were able to go to the temple on the third week of the month. That week-end, we had our stake conference, which was very uplifting. We receive so many wonderful blessings and so much spiritual help and guidance from temple and church attendance. We love the gospel so much, and know that our lives would be incomplete without it. Our stake president at the conference asked us to ponder the question, "What keeps you up at night?" This was a very broad question and could have so many responses. Hopefully, the problems in our daily lives do not keep us awake, and we don't worry about how we are going to handle them. Hopefully, if we are having trouble sleeping, it because of physical problems and not spiritual dilemmas. We know that if we ask our Heavenly Father for help and guidance, he will give us the help we need through personal revelation, and will be led to know what is the right thing to do in anything we may need help on.

****Ariel had a choir concert the third week of May. Monica said she did a great job, and it was a great evening. I feel really bad that we could not be there to hear her sing. We need them to live closer to us...or we need to live closer to them, so that we can enjoy and attend all of their programs and games, etc. Ariel and Tatum are such beautiful and talented girls and I would love it so much if I could see them every single day. I miss them and Monica so much. It's great to talk to them on the phone, but it's not the same as seeing them and being with them every day!!***

On the Saturday before Memorial Day, we drove with Bob's parents again this year to Leamington, Utah. It is the small town where Bob's mother, Varda Johnson Barrett grew up. We had a great drive down with them. We visited the farm that she still owns. We took lots of pictures of the farm and town. Then, we went over to the cemetery there in Leamington. Bob cleaned off some of his relatives graves and put fresh flowers on them. We took lots of pictures of headstones, so that he could put them on his family's ancestry. com site. We also went over to the cemetery in Oak City (a few miles away), and took some pictures of two headstones that we had volunteered to take for other people on a genealogy site (www.findagrave.com). Bob has requested some people to take pictures of some family headstones for him that we don't live near. He thought it only fair that he help some other people with the pictures they needed.

I have been very sad this month, because I lost all the pictures that I had taken on my Florida site. I hope I can go there again this year, and take some more. They were so precious to me..but the computer closed down before I had a chance to put them in an online album!! Then, the computer crashed later, and the other programs that I had put them on got erased also. Next time, I won't delete them off the camera card or save them on a flash drive!!! OH, WELL...live and learn!!!! ;(

I have been trying to start on my genealogy, and have not done very well. I have so much to do, and just have not been very good about getting everything corrected and posted on ancestry.com. I did hire a lady, Hattie Leach, to compile a book of 6 generations of my family and Bob's family. She found some interesting things that I didn't have. Next month will be kind of busy with our Yellowstone Trip coming up and the grandkids coming to stay for a while, but I will get everything done,,,this is a promise to myself and my family. (For Christmas, I want to make each of them a Book of Remembrance of what I have. Then later, each of them can add their own records to.)

I just decided that just hearing about Bob and I is kind of boring, so I am going to start writing about the kids and grandkids more, and including what they are up to. This will be a more complete and more interesting history of our whole family!
